The Front End Business Group combines activities associated with the conversion and enrichment of uranium and with the design and fuel production for nuclear reactors. The production capacities of the Group, one of the world's leaders in the sector, are undergoing modernization.
Job Description:
AREVA is seeking an intern for our PWR Thermal-Hydraulics group in Lynchburg, VA. Thermal-Hydraulics Lynchburg represents an international design team within the AREVA corporate team.
This temporary position includes working with engineering staff to support engineering studies in support of reload analyses and special contracts with US customers. It also may involve the support of the computer codes and automation tools relating to the performance of engineering work.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Performance of engineering calculations using standard engineering computer codes.
  • Preparation of documentation supporting engineering studies.
  • Creation or modification of automation codes supporting engineering calculations.
  • Enhancement to the computing infrastructure (machines, storage, networks) to support engineering work under the guidance of the Linux Administrator.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • 4 semesters completed in an engineering BS program.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Programming skills in FORTRAN, C, Python, or C .
  • Familiarity with Linux.
  • Completed Nuclear Engineering courses.
