Position Summary Normally working under close supervision or direction, assists I&C Technicians Level I and II in the performance of their duties. Such duties include, but are not limited to, functional testing, calibration, troubleshooting and instrumentation. As necessary, maybe assigned to assist in the performance of duties of the Health Physics Technician Helper, Chemistry Technician Helper Susquehanna, and Operator Helper Susquehanna. As assigned, shall perform other related general semi-skilled duties. Position offers opportunity for advancement to a Level I technician based on selection exam score, qualifications, and prior experience. Primary Responsibilities 1. Assists in the performance of skilled work on instrumentation and control loops in all areas of the plant, with minimum interference to the normal operation of the plant. 2. Assists with the inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, installation, adjustment and calibration of station instruments (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or electronic). 3. Maintains calibration records and records of test equipment used for the calibration of plant instrumentation and plant testing. 4. Maintains familiarity with appropriate plans and procedures, Radiological Health and Safety Programs, Industrial Safety Programs, applicable regulations and limits, Plant Controlled Access Areas and Security Procedures and Emergency Procedures. 5. Complies with station procedures and policy implementing the effective Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Regulatory Guides, National Standards and subsequent changes applicable to the work performed. 6. Participates in, and successfully completes, all aspects of training and requalification programs in part consisting of written and oral examinations, lectures and on-the-job training. 7. Keeps assigned repair shop, tools and equipment in good working order; maintains good housekeeping and safety in working area; and assists in the decontamination of personnel, equipment or facilities as necessary or assigned. 8. When directed by proper supervision, performs the duties of Health Physics Technician Helper, Chemistry Technician Helper and Operator Helper. 9. Performs such other related duties as necessary or as assigned. Candidate Qualifications Successful completion of I&C Technician Helper selection examination is required. Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration. Basic Qualifications 1. High school diploma or equivalent and at least one of the following: a.) Two-years work experience with instruments, controls or electronics as found in a nuclear facility. Should include at least six months of related technical training. Relevant military experience, such as Navy or Air Force instrumentation technician experience will satisfy this requirement. b.) Associate Degree in electronics, electricity or nuclear technology. 2. Successful completion of the I&C Technician Helper selection examination is required. 3. Satisfactory physical and mental condition as evidenced by successfully passing company-provided examinations. 4. Ability to read and understand technical instructions and associated diagrams. 5. Ability and aptitude to perform work requiring a high degree of mental and visual attention, manual dexterity and coordination. 6. Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
