Position Summary Accountable for representing the requirements for the Data Center facility construction to the PPL construction director. Lead the commissioning of the Data Center in cooperation with the Construction Team and coordinating the migration to the new facility. Systems within the scope of this position include all mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems. More specifically, scope includes but is not limited to uninterruptible power supply (UPS), backup generators, fuel systems, switch gear, air distribution, fire detection and suppression, pre-action systems, sprinkler systems, chiller systems, temperature control systems and card access. Primary Responsibilities 1. Assist in project management related to Data Center construction by contributing to the development of project plans, estimating work, providing input to design decisions, scheduling tasks, performing cost / benefit analysis and reporting progress to management. Assist supervisors and team leads in related areas by providing visibility to resource needs. 2. Build partnerships with internal customers and collaborate with vendors, consultants, and other ISD personnel, often assuming a leadership role. 3. Provide leadership and guidance related to emergency response and problem management. Ensure proper response to incidents on a 24x7 basis and lead efforts to determine the root cause of problems. 4. Identify the maintenance requirements of the facility and incorporate associated objectives into a documented plan that includes preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance procedures. 5. Identify safety hazards within the Data Center and remediate such hazards to ensure that the building’s staff and occupants work in a safe environment. 6. Ensure that compliance of all regulatory laws and guidelines are met as they relate to the construction and operation of the Data Center infrastructure and alert management of any discrepancies. 7. Assist in the development of the financial plan for infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacements and building modifications to ensure Data Center capabilities are maintained. 8. Responsible for ensuring that major projects performed at the building are properly planned, executed and closed out in accordance with organizational standards and procedures. 9. Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the Data Center including up-to-date building drawings as well as documentation mandated for the purpose of maintaining regulatory compliance with Federal, State or Local law. 10. Oversee the activities of contractors working within the building. Candidate Qualifications Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration. Basic Qualifications 1. Four (4) year college degree. 2. Eight (8) or more years relevant IT experience, including supervisory experience. 3. Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in a Data Center environment, including UPS systems, back-up generators and switch gear. 4. Ability to effectively summarize issues, options and recommendations. 5. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. 6. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. 7. Proven record of excellent customer service.
