Susquehanna Operations, a department within our PPL Electric Utilities organization, is seeking one student to work full time (40 hours/week) during summer semester 2012, in Montoursville, PA. Position Summary A Cooperative Associate is a temporarily employed full-time college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is offered a work-study program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. This program often helps students determine career interests. Beyond the scope of the actual tasks performed, the student becomes familiar with a corporate environment and gains practical skills and knowledge to supplement their classroom experience. Primary Responsibilities Position will entail:

- Analyzing area distribution lines and working with area engineer to implement reinforcements and/or changes.
- Interfacing with different departments to see day-to-day operations of a utility.
- Analyzing data using various computer systems to improve customer reliability.
- Supporting local engineers and designers with projects to serve new customers.

Former Co-ops have assisted in projects like:

- Analyzing data from recording meters to rectify customer complaints.
- Performing voltage surveys of existing lines.
- Assisting the area with storm restoration efforts.
- Designing lines to serve new customers.
- Assisting in equipment maintenance (i.e., pole inspections, capacitor banks, voltage regulators, etc.).
- Preparing requests for large project proposals.
- Completing Expanded Operational Reviews of distribution lines to assess the reliability of the line as well as the adherence to PUC voltage standards. Candidate Qualifications Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration. Basic Qualifications - Enrolled in an accredited college or university program.
- Enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or masters degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Enrolled on a full-time basis (12 semester hours). Students may not continue as a Co-operative Associate once they have graduated.
- Have an acceptable overall grade point average, generally not lower than a 3.2.
- Eligible to work in accordance with Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) regulations.
- Able to provide an official student transcript and other required information.
- 18 years of age or older. Preferred Qualifications - Rising or current Sophomore or Junior Electrical Engineering major.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to perform work outdoors in a variety of environments.
- Knowledgeable in fundamental principles of electricity demonstrated by completed coursework (minimum of sophomore work completed).
