Position Summary The IT Account Manager (AM), serves as a key point of contact between ISD and a major PPL business area(s). The AM is responsible for establishing and nurturing strong, effective business relationships, at all levels of the business line(s), that encourage ongoing dialogue between the business lines and ISD. The AM ensures that an integrated vision, strategy and technology objectives are developed for the business lines. The AM partners with the business line(s) to develop strategic plans, technology goals and a prioritized list of Information Technology (IT) projects. The incumbent ensures that technology supports the changing needs of the business.

The AM is both, an ISD and business line advocate, as well as an issue manager, when normal processes and communications paths fail. The incumbent owns a business area IT activity with end-to-end accountability for solutions that support the customer's business objectives. The incumbent is responsible for negotiating and developing the Service Level Agreement for their supported PPL companies and monitor ISD's compliance to these SLAs. Primary Responsibilities 1. Nutures an environment in which the business line(s) perceives ISD as a partner in achieving success. Creates mutual confidence, harmony of purpose and effective communication between the business lines and ISD through education and by facilitating the dialogue between the business lines and IT. Establishes strong business / IT relationships and leverages these to achieve a shared vision. Displays the ISD leadership emotional intelligence (EQ) competencies in all personal and professional duties.

2. Leads the IT account team. Coordinates a group of ISD employees, of varying levels within the ISD organization having key customer support responsibilities, within the context of a virtual organization (the account team). Is a key IT contact for the business line. Partners with the business line's authorized buyers and the business line management team to ensure that technology is leveraged to meet the changing needs of the business.

3. Is knowledgeable in competitive businesses' use of IT. Maintains awareness of competitors' IT capabilities and emerging IT developments which may be of potential value to the business lines.

4. Partners with and participates in the strategic planning process of the business line(s). Participates in and sometimes leads the effort to identify technical strategies that will create a coherent IT architecture for current and future business needs. Takes the integrated business/IT strategic plan and, in collaboration with the key ISD staff (Info. Solutions Managers, Infrastructure Managers, IT Supervisors, product owners, etc.). Develops a long-term IT strategy that meets business needs, resources and budget constraints for the current business planning cycle. Provides ISD with the business line's strategy and plans, and keeps the business lines current on ISD's strategy and plans.

5. Leads the process to align the objectives of a major business line with ISD's objectives and technology direction. Is responsible for, and drives the process of, prioritizing IT projects to meet the changing needs of a major business line, in collaboration with the IT account team and the business authorized buyer team. Leads business case preparation.

6. Provides innovative consulting in areas that enable business process and IT system improvement. Translates business direction into IT needs. Identifies and encourages opportunities for value added enhancements and identifies how to address business needs that are not being properly satisfied. Provides expertise to the business lines across a wide range of information technologies. Suggests IT best practices as a means of enabling technology to solve business problems.

7. Is engaged in establishing policy, procedures and guidelines for IT solutions and services.

8. Facilitates communication and resolution of critical IT issues identified by the business lines by managing these issues and opportunities end-to-end. Ensures that the business line(s) understand the present capabilities and evolving direction of ISD.

9. Leads the development of the Service Level Agreements (SLA) with the business line(s). Directs the establishment of performance metrics, and manages the expectations of the business lines and ISD during the various phases of the process.

10. Facilitates budget development / coordination through the project planning process with the business line(s).

11. Keeps ISD and the authorized buyers aware of service level metrics and ISD's monthly attainment of these metrics. These metrics include, but are not limited to budgetary targets, as well as, system and service availability. Acts as an escalation point and mediator for unresolved service issues.

12. Committed to continuous learning and strives to increase relative skills and knowledge required for this position. Continuously refines and defines the Account Manager and other ISD roles in support of the business lines' evolution. Keeps abreast of the latest developments in IT, especially its use by competition.

13. Works with business partners to facilitate the development of business cases for key IT projects. Works with the business, ISD, and other sources of IT, to create a funding strategy. Initiates cross-group and/or multi-business line IT projects where no key owner can be identified.

14. Leads IT assessment projects that examine the role of IT support for critical business processes. Facilitates the development of recommendations for process and IT improvements.

15. Intervenes in (tactical) application or infrastructure projects that are in danger of not meeting customer expectations. Candidate Qualifications Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration. Basic Qualifications 1. 7 or more years experience in the following areas:
- Customer Relationship Management or marketing skills
- Information Technology experience
- Business experience Preferred Qualifications 1. Strong group leadership skills with the ability to communicate and persuade at all management levels and thrive in a cross-functional environment.

2. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills and able to influence ISD and business line managers with respect to effective use and operation of IT.

3. The ability to perceive relationships between problems and issues; to analyze and synthesize information; to devise alternative solutions to resolve problems; to assess associated risk.

4. Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical material clearly and effectively to different levels and audiences, including senior business management. Able to express complex technical concepts in business terms.

5. Strong project management skills with experience in organizing, planning, and executing strategic IT assessments.

6. Experienced as a negotiator -- Good understanding of financial accounting and project cost / benefit analysis.

7. In-depth understanding of ISD's organization, methodology, standards and interdependencies.

8. A working knowledge of all key processes of a major business area for the purpose of supporting their information technology needs, and an understanding of the competition and the industry.

9. A general knowledge and expertise in most areas of IT spanning multiple platforms (e.g. enterprise server, PC, client/server, etc.). An understanding of the IT application, infrastructure and data portfolio supporting the business lines.
