Position Summary Under routine supervision, performs unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor work in a steam electric station. Primary Responsibilities 1. Performs routine cleaning. Maintains finished floors in designated areas of plant and other plant property buildings. As required, launders clothing.
2. Obtains tools and material from Storerooms or outside sources.
3. Operates and cleans plant vehicles, such as: automobiles, small trucks, motorized sweepers to sweep the roads, fork lifts (applicable to the duties of a Handyman, with no more than 10,000 pounds lifting capacity), snowblowers, hydro-seeders, etc.
4. Loads and unloads rollback on dumpster trucks. Can put rollback onto truck, transport to landfill and dump to support waste water sludge disposal.
5. Operates simple air-operated and power-driven tools.
6. Performs scheduled inspections on designated plant firefighting, emergency and safety equipment, such as: portable fire extinguishers, SCBA units, eye wash stations, first aid kits, etc. Performs hydrostatic testing of fire hose. Refills fire extinguishers and first aid kits as needed.
7. Maintains grounds in good order, such as: doing clean-up work, clearing snow, grass/shrubbery maintenance, removing trash and debris, etc.
8. Performs monthly safety inspections on designated motor vehicles.
9. Paints walls, doors, handrails, etc.
10. Removes waste oil and hazardous waste, used solvents and oily debris from plant to the proper holding areas, including the transfer process to the proper holding tanks.
11. Performs clerical work associated with job duties.
12. Operates truck and train weigh scales and prepares weigh slips for limestone and gypsum.
13. Unload bottom unloading limestone and gypsum rail cars and operates railcar shaker as needed.
14. Performs minor greasing and lubrication of equipment.
15. Operates only the following equipment that requires a CDL-B license: hydro-seeder, street sweeper, and roll-off hauling truck.
16. Performs such other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Candidate Qualifications Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration. Basic Qualifications 1. Satisfactory physical condition to perform manual labor work in and out of doors, at times under adverse working conditions.
2. Intelligence adequate to observe conditions, learn methods and follow written and verbal instructions.
3. Sufficient manual dexterity to use small hand and power tools and to perform simple mechanical tasks.
4. Must be medically and physically capable of wearing approved respiratory equipment in accordance with governmental regulations and company respiratory programs.
5. A valid Motor Vehicle License and the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License – B. Preferred Qualifications None.
