POSITION DESCRIPTION AREVA Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of AREVA, is seeking a Human Factors Engineer Specialist. Human Factors Engineer will report to the Lead I&C Engineer and be responsible for the supporting a team responsible for Human Factors Engineering (HFE) design and verification for the MFFF. The team will be made up of various staff members with augmentation as necessary from both the design engineering and operations staff. Conduct of the Human Factors Engineeing design and verification will include codification of the plant operationally and administrative task related to safety, analysis of the tasks, charaterization of the human machine interfaces, and design of the necessary interfaces. Requirements for the design of the facility control rooms will be included in the responsibilities of the team. The Human Factors Engineer is expected to be able to execute the required duties and activities with little technical direction from the Lead I&C Engineer and/or the HFE Team lead. The Human Factors Engineer is expected to work closely with the appropriate responsible system engineers, the assigned Integrated Safety Analysis personnel, the electrical design staff, and the other discipline engineers as necessary to perform the HFE work activities. The individual is expected to be a positive influence on the HFE team and provide knowledge and leadership to assist less experienced personnel. The position involves the ability to evaluate complex operations and actions and break the activities down to small definable tasks for analysis. The Human Factors Engineer shall understand project scheduling and performance measurement systems. Responsibilities shall include direct interaction with the US Department of Energy staff and contractors; and have contact with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Staff reviewers who are assigned to review the MFFF Licences Application and the Human Factors program plan.COMPANY DESCRIPTION Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC is a consortium of companies based in Aiken, SC and formed to advance the Department of Energy's mission to dispose of surplus weapon grade plutonium. The plutonium is disposed of by mixing it with uranium and forming a mixed oxide (MOX) fuel for use in existing nuclear reactors. After the MOX fuel is irradiated in the reactor, the plutonium can no longer be used for nuclear weapons. AREVA Federal Services provides resources to MOX Services for the design, construction, licensing and operations of the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) to be built at the Savannah River Site. Resources provided are in the following disciplines: Licensing, ES&H, Integrated Safety Analysis, QA, Engineering Assurance, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Design and Engineering (Structural, Electrical, I &C, Seismic, Nuclear Criticality, Piping, Mechanical, HVAC), Project Safety, Procurement, Project Controls, Software Design, Training, Records Management, Operations, and Information Technology.
