Job Description
Accountable for the in-field application of policies and procedures relating to applied Radiation Protection programs. Directly manages the Radiation Protection ALARA Analysts and Radiation Protection Work Week Specialist activities in their daily support of plant Operations and maintenance activities. Is responsible for assuring that the Radiation Protection Department maintains a strong ALARA program through proper monitoring, assessments, and evaluation of plant exposure data. Is responsible for the regulatory knowledge and training of the ALARA staff necessary to improve station and department performance. Owner of the Radiation Protection Department’s and Site’s ALARA program. Ensure that the ALARA program meets the standards set forth in the guidance documents and maintains site exposure as low as achievable. Participates in the Business Planning, Budget and performance reviews for Radiation Protection at Hope Creek. Fulfill managerial responsibilities regarding assigned staff. Ensures consistent and effective work force practices through assigned supervisors/functions. Assist the other RP Support Superintendent in developing, reviewing and implementing department procedures and policies and assuring that these documents meet all federal and company regulations. Attend peer meetings to assure that industry best practices and standards are being implemented effectively and uniformly across all sites. Accountable for ensuring that department activities, priorities and resources are being managed effectively to meet the needs of Operations and Maintenance. Providing critical observations and feedback to site and departmental staffing to foster continuous improvement. Maintains a working relationship with the Union and ensures that the CBA is applied consistently and fairly. Required: Bachelor’s degree in Healthy Physics, equivalent BS Degree or in lieu of degree must have equivalent work experience. Minimum 5 years experience in RP at a Nuclear facility with either an NRRPT or CHP. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Must be technically knowledgeable in multiple facets of Health Physics programs and regulations. Strong Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, and Technical Specifications. Must meet Nuclear's requirements for unescorted site access.
