THIS IS A PROJECT POSITION: 3 to 5 years in duration (defined employment start and termination dates). Certain Benefit Limitations (i.e., no separation benefits). Director level approval and waiver required to bid on other PSEG opportunities and not eligible to bid on any new opportunities until the last 12 months of the defined employment assignment. Notes: This is a multi-level growth series position (Grade Level 5 /6) that is posted at the Staff Engineer level. The title, grade level and incentive target assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience, learned through the interview process. There are 16-positions to be filled which will report out of various New Jersey locations however, all positions will eventually report out of Hadley Road, South Plainfield, NJ. Reporting relationship will be determined upon hire. Job Description: This position is in the Delivery Projects and Construction Organization which will act as a key contributor to the successful execution of Inside Plant (IP) and Outside Plant (OP) Transmission projects. Develops and supports the implementation of comprehensive contingency plans which will support project objectives, maintains electric system reliability and limits the risk associated with transmission projects. Perform engineering and/or project support work for PSE&G’s Delivery Project & Construction (DP&C) department. The tasks can include operational effectiveness work, review construction vendor performance, act as project manager’s liaison with internal groups such as the electric engineering design department, Permitting team, Overhead Construction and Inside Plant groups. Overall, the successful candidate will provide broad technical assistance through the application of engineering/business knowledge, support goal development, monitor and report progress on DP&C initiatives and Scorecard metrics. Coordinate benchmarking efforts and support application of leading practices. Facilitate and apply quality process in leading and supporting process improvement efforts within the organization. Essential: BS in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering, construction or engineering management or equivalent field construction experience • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’ license. • Must possess demonstrated leadership skills, professionalism and customer, client focus • Must be willing to work OT as required and perform on-call duties. • One – Three years electric Transmission & Distribution experience, but willing to accept recent college graduates that had internship with Electric Transmission and Distribution • Must have experience in interpreting electrical or civil construction drawings. • Demonstrated technical aptitude • Demonstrated leadership skills. • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong computer skills MS Office applications. • Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects all aspects of diversity. • Must demonstrate and value differences in other’s strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices Desirable: • SAP, Primavera or MS Project experience • NJ Professional Engineer License PE license or advanced technical training. This is a safety sensitive position. • Demonstrated electric utility technical knowledge in the areas of system planning, operations and performance. • Understanding of transmission design, circuit and component ratings and operating criteria. | |
