The AREVA Reactors & Services Business Group:
The Reactors and Services Business Group combines the nuclear reactor design and construction activities and the products and services activities necessary for the maintenance, operation, modernization, and improvement of power plants. It also includes vessel propulsion nuclear reactor and research reactor activities. AREVA is currently constructing four EPR™ reactors, of generation III .
The Nuclear Measurements Business Unit (BUNM):
The Nuclear Measurements Business Unit (BUNM) is a trusted provider of world-class nuclear measurement solutions. It has been serving the nuclear community for over four decades. The R&D Project Management Group:
The R&D Project Management group is responsible for the leadership of the most complex R&D projects in the company. The group is also responsible for the performance of all R&D projects within the Meriden site facility. The R&D Project Management Group reports to the Director of R&D Planning and Project Management. This group includes a team of project managers that lead multi-disciplined teams in the Nuclear Measurements Industry.
Job Description:
AREVA is seeking a Project Manager for our R&D Project Management Group at our Canberra facility in Meriden, CT. The R&D Project Manager is responsible to deliver several R&D projects at any one time to various marketing specifications through the successful management of Project Scope, Cost, and Schedule.
Responsibilities and duties include:
  • Lead, mentor and coach members of the project team in all aspects of the Project Management Methodology.
  • Create Project Management Plans.
  • Follow and deploy the Business Unit (BU) process for all projects including (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & control, and closing out).
  • Create and maintain MS Project schedules and use critical path analysis to maintain project control.
  • Challenge and support project teams to improve results.
  • Clearly communicate project progress through Dashboards.
  • Run project risk sessions and record results in risk registers and follow up on actions.
  • Provide accurate financial forecasts for all projects with improvement plans to recover any variances to budget.
  • Ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives using root cause analysis.
  • Provide feedback to project team members appraisal.
Typical Projects include:
  • Radiation Monitoring Systems (RMS). Includes hardware, software, and system integration.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field. Six years of related work experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Three years experience in Project Management, Project Planning and Control, or Project Engineering leadership on development projects.
  • Extensive experience with MS Project in creating and maintaining complex project schedules.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification via the Project Management Institute (PMI).
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Technical background and familiar with the basic principles of physics and nuclear radiation.
  • Exposure leading multi-disciplined teams.
  • Proficient with using MS Project, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic and fast paced environment and flexible to adapt to rapidly changing priorities while maintaining a focus on the safe execution of his/her duties.
  • Conscious of delivering on time the highest quality products and services that exceed the expectation of both internal and external customers.
