Job Description
Overview:

This position is responsible for the planning and scheduling of Generating Station maintenance work activities. The Maintenance Planner will create work packages and detailed craft schedules to repair identified equipment deficiencies and upgrades to the Generating Station systems and components. Planning shall be performed utilizing the corporate SAP system and scheduling shall be performed utilizing the multi-resource scheduling tools. Additional accountabilities include providing back-up support to Group Supervisors Maintenance for direct crew supervision on emergency or as required basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform planning, coordinating, monitoring and reporting on assigned work orders. Comprehensive work packages shall be developed which will maximize on the job productivity for the craft employees and include all aspects of the “Elements of Planning” (time estimates, scope, required skills, material identification, cost estimate, drawings, procedures, specifications, safety concerns, history review, lock out / tag out clearance, special tooling and JSA / JHA).
  • Develop a resource loaded long-range schedule for all craft Maintenance personnel. Integrate Operations and Utility department personnel in the maintenance process to increase overall department effectiveness. Monitor and report schedule compliance and other Maintenance department Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all plant and corporate staff to insure accomplishment of all planning and scheduling objectives. Instruct subordinates in safe work practices, enforces Company safety rules and regulations, investigates accidents and reviews accident reports, and does daily safety observations. Train personnel on workflow practice and schedule development.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the labor agreement; analyze minor union problems and take corrective action as needed. Use good human relations techniques to maintain a harmonious and productive atmosphere.
  • A high proficiency in SAP, including developing notifications, purchase requisitions, material components, attachment linking, CMET, cost reporting, maintenance plans, BOMs, technical object management, and order creation. A comprehensive knowledge of the storeroom system (including the Storeroom SAP component and P.A.R.T.S. search review) is essential.
  • Leads or participates on collaborative teams focused on business issues that require a solution or breakthrough results within a given timeframe while promoting GenOn Energy’s “Vision, Values and Strategic Goals”
  • Provides support to Group Supervisors Maintenance (GSM) and performs direct craft supervision during emergencies, unplanned outages or as needed. Willing to work long and irregular hours
  • WORKING CONDITIONS

    Normal power plant environment including out of doors work environment, working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations.

    Requires operation of a motor vehicle, valid Driver’s License required.

    Requires standing, lifting, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders.

    Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment.

    May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.

    Qualifications:

    Experience:

    * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related area from accredited four-year university required or commensurate experience plus High school diploma or GED required.

    * Applicants must be familiar with all phases of power plant operation and the maintenance activities involved. Additionally, this position requires the ability to analyze problem situations, interpret data, initiate and complete projects, knowledge of company policies and procedures and OSHA requirements. Applicants should possess eight (8) years of power plant and/or industrial maintenance
