POSITION DESCRIPTION



AREVA Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of AREVA, is seeking a PDS Designer.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance
  • Candidates will support the electrical design
  • Duties will include scheduling all equipment and raceway modeling
  • Coordinate with other dicipline and resolve clashes
  • Resolve construction restraints
  • Responsibilities shall also include cross discipline review of design documents and interface with the client and vendors: reviewing work of fellow designers; performing vendor submittal review and bid analysis and coordination of design with other disciplines
  • Candidate shall be required to set-up and maintain Intergraph Microstation drawings
  • Will be required to apply project design requirements to the electrical design including the NEC and various IEEE standards for design of Class 1E electrical / instrumentation systems for nuclear generation facilities
  • Issue drawings extracted from the model using Drawing Manager
  • Have a working knowledge of PDS, EE Raceway, Equipment Modeling and Smart Plant Review


COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC is a consortium of companies based in Aiken, SC and formed to advance the Department of Energy's mission to dispose of surplus weapon grade plutonium. The plutonium is disposed of by mixing it with uranium and forming a mixed oxide (MOX) fuel for use in existing nuclear reactors. After the MOX fuel is irradiated in the reactor, the plutonium can no longer be used for nuclear weapons. AREVA Federal Services provides resources to MOX Services for the design, construction, licensing and operations of the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) to be built at the Savannah River Site. Resources provided are in the following disciplines: Licensing, ES&H, Integrated Safety Analysis, QA, Engineering Assurance, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Design and Engineering (Structural, Electrical, I &C, Seismic, Nuclear Criticality, Piping, Mechanical, HVAC), Project Safety, Procurement, Project Controls, Software Design, Training, Records Management, Operations, and Information Technology.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.




  • Candidates shall have significant instrumentation/electrical design experience with a minimum 10 years of electrical design experience on power plant or large industrial facility projects.




  • Must be fluent with use of Microstation.




  • Intimate knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).




  • Basic computer skills in Access, Word and Excel.




  • Capable of performing raceway fill, and cable sizing calculations.




  • Knowledge of IEEE 384.




  • Familiarity with NRC regulatory guidelines for class 1E systems is preferred.




  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
