Job Description
Be part of a Team of highly professional and experienced control system engineers who provide technical support to NextEra Energy's highly diverse 42,000 MWs of generation. This includes Simple and Combined cycle technology, Conventional units, Wind and Solar. Under limited guidance, position has responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments. Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial complexities which have important impact on major company programs. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection of areas for investigation, and development of novel concepts. Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to individual's field. Assignments given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations.

Your duties will include providing troubleshooting and support to sites with any technical issues. Formulate and make recommendations to maximize reliability of plant process controls and operating equipment. Life cycle planning for our control systems, including project and engineering management of controls upgrades, migrations and retrofits. Fleet standardization and condition prediction and new equipment due diligence. Travel to sites throughout the US is sometimes required, and averages about 30%.

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering and 5 to 7 years of power generation experience. Professional Engineering License is desired. Solid record of system design experience, including software and hardware, with a major Turbine vendor's Distributive Control System (DCS). Preferred systems are GE MK V, Ve, VI and VIe, Siemens T3000, Toshiba TOSMAP-DS, and Mitsubishi DIASYS. Additional systems include Emerson Ovation and ABB Symphony Plus DCS's, the Allen Bradley and Siemens family of PLCs, Bently Nevada vibration systems, Wonderware and OSI PI SCADA systems. Hands-on functional checkout and start-up experience of new or retrofit power generation equipment and experience in process controls tuning desired. Effective design and project management skills particularly in major control system upgrades. Demonstrated successful application of process control knowledge and skill including control loop logic development and testing (sensors through final control elements) for classical and advanced algorithms. Demonstrated troubleshooting and diagnostic skills at all levels of a process/machine control problem. Knowledge of the latest standard practices for communication protocols. High quality written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Safe work practices.
