The Distribution System Operating Supervisor is responsible for directing field personnel in the operation of the subtransmission and distribution system in a safe and cost effective manner to ensure continuity of electric service to customers as well as restore electric service to customers in a timely manner. Key responsibilities include:
- Exercise jurisdictional/functional authority and issue and monitor Workmen's Protection Assurance for these systems. Dispatch and direct field personnel in response to gas distribution system emergencies.
- Supervise, train, evaluate, and counsel field personnel in the safe, efficient, and reliable operation along with maintaining the integrity of the subtransmission and distribution system. This also includes coordinating all activities on the subtransmission and distribution systems by keeping accurate records, writing and dispatching switching orders to isolate equipment which may include analyzing loads and equipment ratings.
- Restore outages in a safe and timely manner. This includes analyzing information from a variety of electronic systems, operating manuals, customer calls, and any pertinent information from field workers to determine the extent and the cause of outages.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university preferred.
Five or more years experience in distribution systems required, with a minimum of six months experience in operations or construction. Five or more years of other relevant experience may be considered with Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Must possess a working knowledge of distribution system design and operations. Effective organization, decision-making, troubleshooting, communication, and human-relation skills required. PC/Computer skills preferred. Must have the ability to direct and supervise a number of diversified, concurrent field activities which could greatly affect Ameren's customers, personnel, and financial resources. Position requires working rotating shift schedules. After preliminary review, selected applicants must take the First Line Supervisor Test and obtain a recommended status in order to be eligible for additional selection procedures (e.g., interview) designated for this position.
